Stranglers invited to T in the Park, and to Greece and Bulgaria
The Stranglers’ busy summer schedule continues with Scotland’s biggest festival, T in the Park...
The band are playing on the main stage on Sunday 11th July and tickets go on sale this Friday the 26th at 9am so it’ll be a busy day for fans north of the border. The T in the Park website is www.tinthepark.com
They are also confirmed at two summer European gigs so far. The first in Piraeus near Athens, Greece (on the bill with Billy Idol) on Friday 18 June and the second at the Spirit of Burgas festival near Sofia, Bulgaria on Saturday 14 August. Website details to follow.
Keep checking for more summer gig news very soon…
Live at the Apollo DVD preorder
The band's historic return to Hammersmith Apollo (nee Odeon) in March is being recorded for a DVD release which will be available exclusively through the merchandise site...
The limited-edition DVD comes with a bonus CD of the gig and is now available to preorder through the link on the right of the screen. As an added extra, the accompanying booklet will include the names of every person who preordered this initial edition.
Following editing and mixing, the DVD/CD set will be dispatched in May and costs £16.99.
Please place your preorders promptly as this is a unique and limited offer.
The Stranglers are playing at Glastonbury. Despite many years of rumours about feuds between the band and organisers, we can confirm they will be appearing at Britain's best known festival in Pilton on Friday 25th June.
Unfortunately, the festival is already totally sold out but the band is following a Glastonbury tradition and will be playing a low-key warm up in the West country area the night before their appearance.
Details of the low-key gig must remain under wraps for the time being but we will announce the details through the site as soon as we are able. This gig is happening to reward any disappointed fans in the area (and beyond) who are unable to get into Glastonbury.
We'll bring you the ticket link as soon as we have it. We also hope that for those of us unable to attend the festival, the BBC treats us to some great live footage of the band over the course of the weekend.
Stay tuned for other high-profile gig news coming in the next few days...
Retro Rockets download sleeve and further news
As promised, here is the full sleeve design for the Retro Rockets single which can now be printed out in PDF format to accompany your home-burnt CD copy of the downloaded track. Click image for full size version.
EMI have also now confirmed that downloads of the single should only be made from well-known websites to ensure chart eligability. Sites we would recommend are iTunes, Amazon, HMV, Play etc and price should be under a pound. As stated before, the release date is 22 February.
Please ensure you don't download the track multiple times by accident as this may negate your sale registering towards the chart figures. However, please encourage any interested friends and family to download the track too...
The Youtube preview snippet video has been viewed around 10,000 times and the Facebook group has almost 2,000 members. Many fans have also been inundating radio and TV stations requesting that they play the song. This all bodes well for a succesful release. A great effort by everyone that is appreciated immensely....
Finally, we should soon be able to upload an exclusive full length video for Retro Rockets onto our Youtube page which should be available to view prior to the single release. This will feature the band doing a run through of the track in their West country HQ during rehearsals for the forthcoming UK tour. We'll keep you posted....
